Job summary

Indiana University Health System is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCA) to provide bedside support and compassionate care on the night shift. You will assist with meals, hygiene, walking, and linen changes, while coordinating with the RN to monitor vital signs and patient conditions.

The role requires BLS certification and strong communication, with the ability to handle a fast-paced hospital environment while prioritizing patient safety and comfort.

Qualifications

• Requires current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Knowledge of care appropriate to the age and developmental level of patients.
• Ability to maintain concentration amid interruptions and noise.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and stand for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Provide drinks and assist with meals, orders, and mobility.
• Assist with baths and linen changes; ensure patient comfort.
• Support bedside RN by taking vital signs and reporting changes.
• Encourage walking and safe patient movement; use gait belts and alarms as needed.
• Maintain safety and infection control standards at the bedside.
