Job summary

Indiana University Health in Bloomington is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCA) to provide compassionate bedside care on a full-time night shift. You will assist with meals, mobility, baths, linens, and help the bedside RN by taking vitals and communicating changes.

This role requires BLS certification, strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work under pressure, and strict adherence to infection control.

Qualifications

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the AHA.
• Knowledge of care appropriate to the age and developmental level of patients.
• Up-to-date knowledge of procedures and standards related to patient care activities.
• Proficiency in interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to withstand high levels of stress and maintain concentration under interruptions.
• Ability to read and perform basic math.
• Ability to organize tasks and manage a high workload.
• Knowledge of infection control principles.

Responsibilities

• Provide drinks and assist with meal ordering.
• Encourage walking and assist with baths and linen changes.
• Provide clean linens and gowns for patients.
• Obtain vital signs and report abnormalities to the RN.
• Maintain patient safety using gait belts and alarms.
• Support bedside RN in a fast-paced hospital environment.
