Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a PCT III for our Emergency Department in a night-shift role. The position involves direct patient care, vital signs, EKG/POC testing, phlebotomy in some locations, and assisting RNs with treatments.

Must provide compassionate patient support and maintain a safe care environment. Responsibilities include monitoring high-risk patients, assisting with activities of daily living, and coordinating with unit staff.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a high school education or GED.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Provides clear, timely communication to the RN regarding observations and changes seen in patients.
• Provides constant observation of high-risk patients as assigned by the Resource Nurse or designee.
• Assists patient with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, ambulating, meals and nourishment.
• Assists in moving, lifting, positioning, and transporting patients by using proper safety techniques.
• Maintains patient safety by performing patient safety checks and following restraints policy as directed.
• Takes and records vital signs and measures patient height and weight.
• Performs EKGs, POC tests, prepares specimens for transport to lab; phlebotomy in some locations.
• Assists RN/PI with treatments and procedures; prepares equipment and supplies.
