Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician III for the Emergency Department/Unit roles in Massachusetts. This non-exempt, night-shift position offers 32 hours per week with a 40-hour full-time schedule basis and a signing bonus potential discussed in the interview.

Responsibilities include assisting RNs, monitoring patients, providing daily living support, and performing basic clinical tasks like vital signs and specimens while ensuring safety and compassionate care.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of medical terminology and patient care terminology.
• Proficient in basic computer applications and health information systems.
• Excellent verbal and written communication in English.
• Strong interpersonal skills to interact with patients, families, and staff.
• Proven problem-solving abilities and the ability to stay calm in emergencies.
• Ability to follow unit standards and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care under supervision and assist the healthcare team.
• Monitor and record patient status, communicate with RN about changes.
• Assist with daily living activities and mobility.
• Perform basic clinical tasks as trained (vital signs, specimens, basic testing).
• Maintain safety and hygiene, and support care in multiple units.
• Collaborate to ensure patient comfort and effective care delivery.
