Job summary

Indiana University Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCA) to provide compassionate bedside care. Duties include assisting with meals, helping patients with baths, providing clean linens, and encouraging mobility while maintaining safety with gait belts and alarms.

The PCA collaborates with bedside RNs, reports changes promptly, and upholds infection control standards. Requires BLS certification or completion of IU Health PCA program.

Qualifications

• Current Basic Life Support certification through the AHA or completion of the IU Health PCA education program.
• Knowledge of care appropriate to the age and developmental level of patients served.
• Ability to read and perform basic math.
• Proficiency in interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with drinks and meal ordering; encourage walking and mobility.
• Assist with baths and provide clean linens and gowns.
• Provide clinical assistance to the bedside RN by obtaining vital signs and reporting abnormalities.
• Maintain patient safety using gait belts and bed/chair alarms.
• Work in a fast-paced environment.
• Adhere to infection control and patient care standards.
