Job summary

Virtua Health is seeking a part-time, per diem patient care assistant to support daily living activities for patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or LPN. Duties include bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, and mobility assistance, with adherence to safety standards.

Qualifications

• Demonstrates required knowledge of basic patient care skills, procedures and standards.
• Must have strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Supports activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, oral care, feeding, toileting/hygiene, and assisting with mobility and transport.
• Performs technical duties as directed by RN/LPN (vital signs, point of care testing, bladder scanning, Foley catheter care); may perform phlebotomy and EKGs if certified; communicates changes in patient status to RN/LPN.
• Reinforces education of patient and family regarding care needs and safety issues.
• Participates in Virtua patient satisfaction initiatives and goals.
• Participates in performance improvement activities.
• Assists in orientation of new hires.
