Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals is hiring a Nursing Assistant to provide direct care under a Registered Nurse. You will assist with activities of daily living, vital signs, specimens, and basic rehab activities while maintaining a safe care environment.

The role involves night shifts at WVUH in Morgantown, with responsibilities spanning routine unit operations, patient communication, and support for examinations and procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Obtain certification in Basic Life Support or HeartSaver First Aid within 30 days of hire date.
• Prior patient care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in direct patient care with basic physical care under RN guidance.
• Assist with ADLs and bed making for assigned patients.
• Transport patients safely to tests and discharges per policy.
• Perform glucose monitoring, urine/stool testing and logs.
• Perform routine phlebotomy and record vital signs and outputs.
• Provide respiratory support and assist with exams and procedures.
• Assist with rehab activities and communicate nutrition concerns to RN.
• Maintain clean, safe environment and equipment; answer calls promptly.
