Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals is seeking a dedicated CNA to provide direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. You will assist with activities of daily living, monitor vital signs, and help ensure a family-centered experience for patients and families.

The role includes transporting patients, assisting with examinations, basic rehab activities, and maintaining a safe, clean unit environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Obtain certification in Basic Life Support or HeartSaver First Aid within 30 days of hire date.
• Prior patient care experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists in direct patient care by providing basic physical care to promote patient comfort as directed by the RN.
• Assists all assigned patients with activities of daily living in a timely manner including making beds.
• Safely transports patients to tests and procedures and escorts for discharge.
• Transports specimens and items throughout the facility.
• Performs routine phlebotomy services and glucose monitoring per policy; glucose monitoring not allowed on Subacute Unit.
• Obtains and records vital signs and nutrition-related notes as per policy.
• Provides respiratory support and sets up equipment for oxygen administration.
• Observes and reports patient concerns to a registered nurse immediately.
• Assists physicians and RNs with examinations and procedures.
• Maintains a clean and safe environment to prevent infections.
