Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals is seeking a nursing support role to assist with direct patient care under supervision of a registered nurse. The position involves helping with activities of daily living, transferring patients, and supporting diagnostic procedures.

Responsibilities include basic lab tests, vital signs, and maintaining a safe environment, with emphasis on infection control and patient comfort. 24-hour coverage with night shifts is provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• BLS/HeartSaver First Aid certification within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist in direct patient care under RN supervision.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living and bed care.
• Transport patients and specimens between tests and procedures.
• Perform basic tests (glucose, urine/stool) and record vitals per policy.
• Provide respiratory support and assist with examinations and procedures.
• Maintain a safe, clean environment and report changes to RN.
