Job summary

Emerus is seeking a Patient Access Specialist in Oklahoma City to act as a liaison between patients, payers, and the Patient Financial Services team. You will verify demographics, collect out-of-pocket RESPONSIBILITY, and ensure accurate data entry to maximize hospital reimbursement.

The role requires attention to detail, strong customer service, and knowledge of insurance verification processes to support a smooth revenue cycle in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in handling patient information with accuracy.
• Ability to verify insurance benefits across plans.
• Comfort with collecting patient financial responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Maintain EMTALA, DNV, HIPAA compliance in Admissions and medical records handling.
• Provide excellent customer service and build relationships with customers.
• Identify and triage patients to protect safety upon hospital arrival.
• Answer phone calls professionally and disseminate messages to staff.
• Obtain signatures on forms and consents as required.
• Enter complete demographic data to support revenue cycle processing.
• Verify and enter insurance benefits and correct payor/plan.
• Obtain necessary insurance authorizations.
• Pursue collections at the point of service in a customer-friendly manner.
• Scan and file registration and clinical documents into the system.
• Coordinate patient transfers to other hospitals when needed.
