Job summary

Emerus is seeking a Patient Access Specialist for night shifts at our Texas facility to coordinate patient intake, verify insurance, and secure out-of-pocket payments. You will help ensure accurate demographics, proper billing, and smooth revenue cycle operations.

The role emphasizes excellent customer service, attention to compliance, and efficient collaboration with care teams to protect patient safety and streamline admissions.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED, required.
• 2 years of patient registration and insurance verification experience in a health care setting, preferred.
• Emergency Department registration experience, strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of various insurance plans (HMO, PPO, POS, Medicare, Medicaid) and payors, required.
• Basic understanding of medical terminology.
• Excellent customer service.
• Working knowledge of MS Office (MS Word, Excel and Outlook), strongly preferred.
• Position requires fluency in English; written and oral communication.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate patient tracking and billing by obtaining/verifying demographic information.
• Verify insurance benefits for all plans associated with patient, confirming payor and plan in the patient accounting system.
• Obtain insurance authorizations as required by plans.
• Maximize collections at the time of service in a customer service-oriented fashion.
• Scan and maintain medical records and assist with transfers between hospitals when needed.
