Job summary

Emerus seeks a Patient Access Specialist in Oklahoma City to join a 16-bed small-format hospital. You will coordinate patient registration, verify insurance, and secure out-of-pocket responsibility to maximize hospital reimbursement.

Responsibilities include maintaining HIPAA and EMTALA compliance, delivering excellent customer service, and assisting with transfers and records. Night shift requires strong communication and multitasking in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• Must have strong customer service skills across diverse populations.
• Experience with patient registration and insurance verification is preferred.
• Ability to communicate clearly with patients, families, and staff.

Responsibilities

• Maintain EMTALA, DNV, HIPAA compliance in Admissions settings.
• Provide excellent customer service and build relationships with customers.
• Identify and triage patients upon arrival to ensure safety and proper processing.
• Answer calls professionally and relay messages to medical staff.
• Obtain and verify demographic information for accounts to support revenue cycle.
• Verify insurance benefits and plan details for patients and payors.
• Obtain insurance authorizations when required by plans.
• Assist with cash handling and processing payments per policy.
• Scan and file registration and clinical documents.
• Coordinate patient transfers to other hospitals when needed.
• Respond to medical record requests from patients, physicians, and hospitals.
• Maintain visitor/vendor logs and log payments and admissions.
