Job summary

INTEGRIS Community Hospital in Oklahoma City seeks a Patient Access Specialist to serve as a liaison between patients, payers, and the health care team. You will facilitate patient tracking, verify demographics, secure payments, and maximize reimbursement.

The role requires attention to detail, strict compliance with healthcare regulations, and excellent customer service during night shifts from 7pm to 7am.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 2 years of patient registration and insurance verification experience in a health care setting is preferred.
• Knowledge of various insurance plans (HMO, PPO, POS, Medicare, Medicaid) and payors is required.
• Basic understanding of medical terminology.
• Excellent customer service.
• Fluency in English; written and oral communication.
• Spanish language requirement applies to El Paso Market.

Responsibilities

• Maintain EMTALA, DNV, HIPAA and other regulations in Admissions settings and in handling Medical Records.
• Provide excellent customer service by meeting customer needs and building quality relationships.
• Identify and triage patients on arrival to protect patient safety.
• Answer phones professionally and relay messages to medical staff.
• Obtain signatures on required forms and consents.
• Enter complete demographic information to facilitate revenue cycle processing.
• Verify insurance benefits and correct payor and plan in the patient accounting system.
• Obtain insurance authorizations as required by plans.
• Pursue collections at the time of service with a customer-service approach.
• Scan and store registration and clinical documents in the system.
• Coordinate patient transfers when needed.
• Respond to medical record requests from patients, physicians, and hospitals.
• Maintain cash drawer according to policies.
• Log patients, payments, transfers, and admissions.
• Maintain visitor/vendor log.
