Job summary

OU Health is seeking a Registrar I for the University of Oklahoma Medical Center Emergency Department. The role focuses on timely patient registration, verifying insurance, and collecting applicable patient liabilities, with responsibilities during evenings and weekends as scheduled.

Responsibilities include interviewing patients, completing charts, securing signatures, and guiding patients through billing policies.

Qualifications

• Clear verbal and written communication is essential.
• Strong customer service orientation is required.
• Effective interpersonal skills help interact with patients and families.
• Proficiency in PC applications and office software is needed.
• Basic math and clerical skills support accurate registration and billing.

Responsibilities

• Interview patients at workstation or bedside to obtain necessary account information.
• Ensure charts are completed and accurate for registration.
• Verify insurance and obtain pre-certification/authorization.
• Verify insurance benefits and calculate and collect patient liable amounts.
• Secure all necessary signatures for treatment and billing.
• Explain policies regarding services, charges, and payments to patients.
• Process patient charts and registration paperwork in a timely manner.
• Welcome patients and family members professionally and courteously.
• Assign coverages and research the patient's visit history.
• Prepare daily deposits and maintain cash drawer integrity.
• Register and admit patients after hours as needed.
• Escort patients or arrange for escort services as required.
• Attend mandatory education and training sessions.
