Job summary

Emerus Holdings, Inc. is seeking a Hospital Registration/Front Office Specialist for night shifts at a 16-bed small-format hospital. You will check in patients, verify insurance, collect demographics, and coordinate with medical staff to ensure smooth revenue cycle operations.

The role requires strong customer service, familiarity with insurance plans, and the ability to work in a fast-paced setting. English fluency is required; bilingual skills are a plus for certain markets.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2 years of patient registration and insurance verification experience in a health care setting preferred.
• Emergency Department registration experience strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of various insurance plans (HMO, PPO, POS, Medicare, Medicaid) and payors required.
• Basic understanding of medical terminology.
• Excellent customer service.
• Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) preferred.
• Fluency in English; written and oral.
• Fluency in English & Spanish required in the El Paso Market.
• Act 33 and Act 73 clearances completed or must be obtained prior to start date.

Responsibilities

• Maintain compliance with EMTALA, DNV, HIPAA and all hospital and government regulations applicable to Admissions and Medical Records handling.
• Provide excellent customer service and build quality relationships.
• Identify and triage patients to ensure safety on arrival at the hospital.
• Answer telephone professionally and relay messages to medical staff.
• Obtain signatures on forms and consents as required.
• Enter complete demographic information to facilitate revenue cycle processing.
• Verify insurance benefits and correct payor and plan in patient accounting system.
• Obtain insurance authorizations where applicable.
• Pursue timely payments to maximize collections at point of service.
• Scan registration and clinical documents into the system and maintain medical records.
• Coordinate transfers between hospitals when needed.
• Respond to medical record requests from patients, physicians and hospitals.
• Maintain cash drawer and logs of patients, payments, transfers and admissions.
• Maintain visitor/vendor log and a clean facility environment at front desk, waiting room, and related areas.
• Assist with duties and attend required meetings; support medical staff as needed.
