Job summary

Emerus in Schertz, Texas, is seeking a PRN Patient Registration/Admissions Clerk to support revenue cycle through accurate demographics, insurance verification, and collections.

You will interact with patients, families, payers, and clinical staff, ensuring complete documentation and compliance with EMTALA, HIPAA, and DNV standards. This role emphasizes service excellence, teamwork, and accurate recordkeeping.

Night shift availability and hospital setting experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 1 year of patient registration experience preferred; 2 years preferred.
• Experience with insurance verification or enrollment is beneficial.
• EMTALA/DNV/HIPAA knowledge is desirable.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain compliance with EMTALA, DNV, HIPAA and regulations applicable to Admissions and medical records handling.
• Provide excellent customer service and build quality relationships with customers.
• Answer telephone professionally and relay messages to appropriate medical staff.
• Provide and obtain signatures on required forms and consents.
• Enter complete and accurate demographic information to facilitate revenue cycle processing.
• Verify insurance benefits for all plans and confirm correct payor and plan.
• Obtain insurance authorizations as required by plans.
• Pursue collections at the time of service in a customer-service manner.
• Scan registration and clinical documentation into the system and maintain medical records.
• Assist with transferring patients to other hospitals when necessary.
• Respond to medical record requests from patients, physicians and hospitals.
• Maintain cash drawer according to policies.
• Maintain logs of patients, payments, transfers and admissions.
• Maintain visitor/vendor log.
• Attend staff meetings and assist medical staff as needed.
