Emerus Holdings, Inc. is seeking a Patient Access Specialist on the night shift at our Zarzamora facility in San Antonio.

You will serve as a liaison between patients, families, payers, and the health care team, collecting demographic information and verifying insurance to maximize hospital reimbursement. Qualifications

• 2 years of patient registration and insurance verification experience in a health care setting
• Knowledge of various insurance plans (HMO, PPO, POS, Medicare, Medicaid) and payors is required
• Fluency in English; written and oral communication
• Emergency Department registration experience is preferred
• Basic understanding of medical terminology

Responsibilities

• Maintain compliance with EMTALA, DNV, HIPAA and all other hospital and government regulations applicable to Admissions
• Provide excellent customer service by meeting customer needs and building relationships
• Identify and triage patients upon arrival and ensure proper patient identification
• Answer telephone professionally and relay messages to medical staff
• Obtain signatures on required forms and consents
• Verify and enter complete demographic information to support revenue cycle and billing processes
• Verify insurance benefits for plans and confirm correct payor and plan in patient accounting
• Obtain insurance authorizations as required by plans
• Assist with collections at the time of service in a courteous manner
• Scan and file registration and clinical documents into the system
• Coordinate patient transfers to other facilities when needed
• Respond to medical record requests from patients, physicians, and hospitals
• Maintain cash drawer and log payments, transfers and admissions
• Maintain visitor/vendor log
