Job summary

Great River Health seeks an experienced House Supervisor (RN) to coordinate activities across nursing units and departments during off-hours. This role provides leadership, supervises staff, and ensures compliance with regulatory standards while supporting the hospital’s mission and values.

The supervisor will round on units, collaborate with physicians, and act as incident commander during emergencies, ensuring high-quality patient care and efficient hospital operations.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree (AA) in Nursing (ADN) Required.
• Bachelor's Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) or BSN preferred.
• RN license in Iowa required upon hire.
• 4-6 years nursing practice preferred.
• Supervisory experience preferred.
• Preference: critical care experience.
• Proficiency in clinical decision making and critical thinking.
• Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word and Excel preferred.
• Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.
• ACLS within 180 days required.
• BLS within 180 days required.
• PALS within 180 days required.
• NIHSS Certification within 180 days required.
• TNCC within 1 year preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with health care professionals to ensure optimal patient care.
• Communicate nursing service philosophies, goals, policies, priorities, or procedures.
• Direct or supervise nursing care staff in patient care.
• Gather, analyze and document information to inform staffing decisions within budget.
• Meet with Physicians to discuss care concerns and resolve conflicts.
• Regularly round on all nursing units to assess activity and staff support.
• Act as bed placement officer in absence of role.
• Act as Incident Commander at start of emergency plans.
• Maintain departmental policies, procedures and infection control standards.
• Observe and assess patients to identify customer service needs.
• Communicate shift activities to Nursing Leadership via House Supervisor Report.
• Collaborate with leaders to resolve conflicts and concerns.
• Maintain content for all emergency management plans.
• Serve as staffing office specialist in absence of staffing office specialist.
