Job summary

Great River Health Systems seeks a House Supervisor RN to coordinate and direct activities across nursing units during off-hours, reporting to Nursing Director and Administration. You will lead staff, ensure standards, and support hospital operations with incident command responsibilities.

The role emphasizes professionalism, patient care excellence, and collaboration with physicians, staff, and leadership to maintain quality services and safety across departments.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree (AA) in Nursing (ADN) Required
• Bachelor's Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) or BSN Preferred
• 4-6 years experience in nursing practice Preferred
• Prefer supervisory experience Preferred
• Proficiency in clinical decision making and critical thinking skills
• Proficiency in computer skills (MS Outlook, Word, and Excel) preferred
• Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills
• ACLS within 180 Days Required
• BLS Healthcare Provider within 180 Days Required
• PALS within 180 Days Required
• NIHSS Certification within 180 Days Required
• TNCC within 1 Year Preferred
• RN Iowa Board of Nursing Upon Hire Required

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with health care professionals to ensure optimal patient care.
• Communicate nursing service philosophies, goals, policies, priorities, or procedures.
• Direct or supervise nursing care staff in patient care.
• Gather and document information to inform staffing decisions within budget.
• Meet with physicians to discuss care concerns and resolve conflicts.
• Routinely round on nursing units to assess activity and support staff.
• Act as bed placement officer in absence of designated staff.
• Serve as Incident Commander at start of emergency plans.
• Maintain departmental policies, procedures, objectives, or infection control standards.
• Observe and assess patients to identify customer service needs; leadership rounding.
• Communicate shift activities to Nursing Leadership via House Supervisor Report.
• Collaborate with leaders to resolve conflicts and patient/family concerns.
• Maintain proficiency of content for emergency management plans.
• Act as staffing office specialist in absence of staffing office specialist.
