Job summary

Electrical Automation Services in Goodyear, AZ is seeking an experienced Electrical Controls Engineer for a night-shift role. The position requires leading on-site controls support, diagnosing PLC/HMI issues, and driving improvements across high-speed beverage production equipment.

Responsibilities include mentoring maintenance staff, managing change, and coordinating with operations, engineering, and quality teams to enhance safety, reliability, and throughput.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in engineering technology, information systems, industrial automation and controls, or a related technical discipline.
• At least four years of industrial automation or controls experience in food and beverage or high-speed manufacturing.
• Strong PLC troubleshooting and programming capabilities.
• Experience with HMIs, VFDs, servo systems, instrumentation, and networks.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and control drawings.
• Willingness to work a 2-2-3 night schedule from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary on-shift controls and automation expert.
• Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 troubleshooting for automated production equipment.
• Diagnose PLC, HMI, VFD, servo, instrumentation, and network issues.
• Develop and execute controls projects to improve safety, quality, reliability, and throughput.
• Maintain PLC and HMI backups, electrical drawings, and change records.
• Support equipment commissioning, upgrades, and system integration.
• Mentor maintenance technicians and operators.
