Job summary
Electrical Automation Services is seeking a highly skilled Controls Engineer for a Glendale, AZ facility on a 2-2-3 night shift from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM. You'll serve as the on-shift expert, troubleshooting PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and motion-control systems while collaborating with operations, maintenance, engineering, and quality teams.
The role emphasizes safety, reliability, and throughput improvements, with mentoring of technicians and participation in change management.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in engineering technology, information systems, or industrial automation.
- At least four years of industrial automation or controls experience in high-speed manufacturing.
- Strong PLC troubleshooting and programming capabilities.
- Ability to read electrical schematics, control drawings, and technical documentation.
- Excellent communication skills to work across multiple plant departments.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary on-shift controls and automation expert.
- Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 troubleshooting for production equipment.
- Diagnose PLC, HMI, VFD, servo, and motion-control issues.
- Support changes through the Management of Change process.
- Mentor and train maintenance technicians and operators.
- Maintain backups, drawings, and change records.
