Job summary

Electrical Automation Services seeks an experienced Controls Engineer for our Glendale, AZ facility. This on-site role provides Tier 1–2 troubleshooting for high-speed beverage production, focusing on PLC, HMI, VFD, and servo systems on a 6:00 PM–6:00 AM 2-2-3 schedule.

You will mentor maintenance staff, lead automation projects, and help improve safety, quality, and throughput while collaborating with operations, maintenance, engineering and quality teams.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in engineering technology or related discipline (engineering technology / automation).
• At least four years of industrial automation or controls experience in high-speed manufacturing (food/bev, pharma, CPG).
• Strong PLC troubleshooting and programming capabilities.
• Experience with HMIs, VFDs, servo systems, instrumentation, and industrial networks.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and control drawings.
• Willingness to work a 2-2-3 night schedule (6:00 PM–6:00 AM).
• Excellent communication across plant departments.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the on-shift controls and automation expert.
• Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 troubleshooting for production equipment.
• Diagnose PLC/HMI/VFD/servo and network issues.
• Troubleshoot equipment failures and restore production safely and efficiently.
• Identify recurring problems and implement permanent corrective actions.
• Develop and execute controls projects to improve safety, quality, reliability, and throughput.
• Support high-speed beverage processing, filling, canning, conveying, and packaging.
• Mentor maintenance technicians and operators; maintain backups and documentation.
