Job summary

Electrical Automation Services is seeking a Controls Engineer for the Glendale, AZ facility to serve as the on-shift controls expert. You will troubleshoot PLC/HMI/VFD/servo systems on automated production lines, mentor maintenance staff, and lead controls projects to improve safety, quality, and throughput.

The role requires an engineering-technical associate degree and 4+ years of automation experience in fast-paced manufacturing, with a 2-2-3 night schedule and relocation assistance offered.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in engineering technology, information systems, industrial automation and controls, or a related technical discipline.
• At least four years of industrial automation or controls experience in high-speed manufacturing environments (food & beverage, packaging, etc).
• Strong PLC troubleshooting and programming capabilities.
• Experience troubleshooting HMIs, VFDs, servo systems, instrumentation, networks, and electrical control systems.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and control drawings.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across plant departments.
• Willingness to work a 2-2-3 night schedule (6:00 PM–6:00 AM).

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary on-shift controls and automation expert.
• Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 troubleshooting support for automated production equipment.
• Diagnose PLC, HMI, VFD, servo, instrumentation, motion-control, and industrial-network issues.
• Troubleshoot equipment failures and restore production safely and efficiently.
• Develop and execute controls projects to improve safety, quality, reliability, and throughput.
• Provide technical leadership, training, and mentorship to maintenance technicians and operators.
• Maintain PLC and HMI backups, controls documentation, and change records.
• Support equipment commissioning, controls upgrades, and system integration projects.
