Job summary

UW Medicine is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT) 1 for the Phlebotomy & Specimen Processing Services (PSPS) team at UW Medical Center - Montlake in Seattle, WA. The role involves specimen processing, venipuncture, and exceptional patient service to support accurate diagnostics.

The CLT 1 will orient/train new staff and contribute to performance improvement and accreditation efforts while ensuring timely, compliant laboratory operations in a 100% FT night shift schedule.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent; OR completion of a laboratory assistant course approved by the American Society for Clinical Pathology.
• MA-P certification with Washington State DOH or able to obtain within 180 days of start date.

Responsibilities

• Perform Specimen Processing: receiving, sorting, prioritizing, matching requisitions, centrifuging, aliquoting, processing timed urine collections, result review, and LIS entries.
• Perform Phlebotomy: venipuncture and capillary blood collection for inpatients and outpatients of all ages.
• Provide customer service with prompt, courteous, and professional responses to inquiries from patients and hospital staff.
• Orient and train new employees and participate in performance improvement activities; support accreditation standards.
• Resolve specimen and order-related problems with proper documentation for supervisor review.
