Job summary

UW Medicine - Department of Laboratory Medicine & Pathology in Seattle, WA invites applications for a Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT) 1 on the Specimen Processing Team at UW Medical Center - Northwest. You will support diagnostic testing through specimen processing, blood draws, and providing excellent patient service.

The role emphasizes training, quality improvement, and compliance with CLIA, CAP, and JCAHO standards.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent and one year of laboratory experience.
• Completion of a laboratory assistant course approved by the ASCP.
• Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications.
• MA-P certification with Washington State DOH or obtain within 180 days of start date.

Responsibilities

• Perform specimen processing tasks: receiving, sorting, prioritizing specimens; matching specimens to requisitions; centrifuging and aliquoting; processing timed urine collections; entering results for reference lab testing.
• Perform blood draws on patients and provide courteous, professional customer service to patients and staff.
• Orient and train new employees and participate in performance improvement activities to support accreditation standards (JCAHO, CLIA, CAP).
• Resolve specimen and order-related problems promptly with proper documentation.
