Job summary

The University of Washington Medical Center - Montlake in Seattle, WA is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT) 1 for the Phlebotomy & Specimen Processing Services (PSPS) Team. You will perform specimen processing and venipuncture, providing direct patient care and ensuring accurate handling of samples to support timely diagnoses.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent AND one year of chemical, clinical, or public health laboratory experience.
• Completion of a laboratory assistant course approved by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) is acceptable.
• Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform Specimen Processing: receive, sort, prioritize specimens; match to requisitions; centrifuge; aliquot; process timed urine collections; document results.
• Perform Phlebotomy: venipuncture and capillary blood collection for inpatients and outpatients of all ages.
• Provide Customer Service: respond to inquiries from patients, clients, and staff and instruct on urine collection procedures.
• Orient and train new employees; participate in quality improvement, and support hospital accreditation standards.
• Resolve specimen and order-related problems with timely, thorough documentation.
