Job summary

UW Medicine’s Department of Laboratory Medicine & Pathology in Seattle seeks a Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT) 1 for the Phlebotomy & Specimen Processing Services Team at Harborview. The role includes processing specimens, performing phlebotomy on inpatients/outpatients, and delivering patient-centered service.

Ideal candidates hold a high school diploma with 1 year lab experience or MA-P certification; LIS experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent and 1 year of lab experience, or approved laboratory assistant training.
• MA-P certification must be obtained within 180 days of start date.
• Experience with a Laboratory Information System (LIS) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform specimen processing: receiving, sorting, centrifuging, aliquoting, and data entry.
• Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection for patients of all ages.
• Provide courteous customer service to patients and hospital staff.
• Orient and train new staff; support accreditation standards (JCAHO, CLIA, CAP).
• Resolve specimen/order issues promptly with proper documentation.
