Job summary

University of Washington in Seattle, WA is hiring a Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT 2) for the Phlebotomy & Specimen Processing Services team at Harborview Medical Center. The role coordinates preanalytical workflow for send-out testing, assists with specimen processing, and performs CLT 1 duties as needed, including phlebotomy.

The position offers an evening 100% FTE schedule, Monday–Friday, with a start in the Harborview reference labs network and ongoing collaboration with CAST, LMR,

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent with two years of chemical, clinical, or public health laboratory experience.
• Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications when allowed by policy.
• Two years of lab experience and ability to coordinate preanalytical workflow are required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares packages and forwards send-out samples to the appropriate reference lab.
• Maintains knowledge of collection and processing for specialized tests sent to outside labs.
• Aids in preparing collection containers and stock of chemicals and kits for refer­ral testing.
• Builds relationships with referral laboratories to facilitate the send-out process.
• Maintains organized files, reports, and results; monitors lab reports and PLM.
• Maintains annual certifications for hazardous materials and dry ice shipments.
• Trains staff on reference laboratory send-out activities and problem resolution.
• Responds professionally to test information inquiries and documents appropriately.
