Job summary

UW Medicine is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT) 1 for the Northwest Specimen Processing team. The role supports the diagnostic process through specimen handling, phlebotomy, and collaboration with hospital staff.

The CLT 1 will orient and train new staff, participate in performance improvement, and help UW meet accreditation standards. The position emphasizes accurate documentation and timely problem solving in a hospital laboratory setting.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent AND one year of chemical, clinical, or public health laboratory experience.
• MA-P certification with Washington State DOH or obtain within 180 days of start date.
• Preferred: Associate or bachelor’s degree in science.

Responsibilities

• Perform Specimen Processing: receive, sort, prioritize, match to requisitions, centrifuge and aliquot specimens.
• Perform Phlebotomy: venipuncture and capillary blood collection for inpatients and outpatients.
• Provide Customer Service: respond to inquiries and instruct on proper specimen collection.
