Job summary

Cheney Brothers is hiring a Shuttle Driver for night shifts on a Sunday to Friday schedule to support our food distribution network in Florida. You will transport empty trailers to the operating locations and return full trailers to domicile/shuttle yards, following DOT regulations and safety procedures.

The role requires a CDL A with a Doubles Endorsement and a clean MVR, plus the ability to lift and handle freight up to 90 pounds.

Qualifications

• CDL A with Doubles Endorsement required.
• Night shift schedule (Sun–Thu nights).
• Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for past 3 years.
• Meet all State licensing/certification requirements where applicable.
• Pass pre-employment drug test and road test.
• DOT Health Card current or ability to secure a new card.

Responsibilities

• Performs safety checks (pre/post trip) per DOT regulations and inspects tractor/truck and trailer.
• Reports safety issues and required repairs.
• Follows DOT regulations and company safety guidelines; ensures proper loading and securing of freight.
• Maintains route paperwork with tractor-trailer load and ensures availability at dispatch.
• Drives and delivers trailers according to the schedule; completes hook/unhook procedures.
• Parks and stores tractors and trailers in designated areas; ensures equipment is secured.
• Handles damaged goods and returns, completes required paperwork at base facility.
• Unloads freight and removes trash from trailers.
• Keeps daily hours-of-service log as required; performs general housekeeping in trailer area.
