Job summary

MercyOne Trinity Health in Des Moines, IA, seeks an Acute Care RN for a 12-hour night shift. The role provides and directs safe, effective, and culturally competent care for patients with acute medical and surgical conditions, coordinating with the care team.

The RN will supervise LPNs and nursing support, communicate with physicians and families, and uphold MercyOne’s mission and values while delivering evidence-based patient care.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in nursing is required.
• Current Iowa RN license is required; Illinois license if working in IL is not applicable here.
• BLS certification is required.
• BSN is preferred.
• ACLS certification is required only if the unit has telemetry monitoring capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Conducts an initial assessment to gather data.
• Makes an initial assessment of new admissions within 30 minutes of arrival.
• Completes admission assessment data within 24 hours of admission.
• Collaborates with physicians, families, and care teams to plan care.
• Implements and adjusts the care plan to achieve patient outcomes.
• Coordinates discharge planning and referrals as needed.
• Maintains accurate documentation and communicates changes in patient condition.

Education

Associate degree in nursing

Current Iowa RN license

BSN preferred

BLS certification

ACLS certification required if telemetry
