Job summary

MercyOne Trinity Health in Des Moines, IA seeks an Acute Care RN to provide safe, effective, and culturally competent care for patients with acute medical and surgical conditions. You will supervise nursing staff, collaborate with physicians, and coordinate discharge planning across telemetry and non-telemetry units.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in nursing is required.
• BSN preferred.
• Current Iowa RN license (IL license if working in IL) required.
• American Heart Association BLS required.
• ACLS required only if the unit has telemetry monitoring capabilities.
• Mandatory Reporter – Child and/or Dependent Adult Abuse training within 3 months of hire.
• High language, intermediate to high math, high critical thinking ability. Basic computer skills required.

Responsibilities

• Conducts an initial assessment to gather data within 30 minutes of arrival.
• Identifies patient problems and develops goal-based plans of care.
• Implements and coordinates the plan of care with the care team.
• Communicates with physicians, patients and families throughout the shift.
• Manages telemetry and cardiac monitoring when applicable.
• Performs discharge planning and ensures proper documentation.
