Job summary

MercyOne in Des Moines, IA is seeking an Acute Care RN to provide safe, effective, culturally competent care for patients with acute medical and surgical conditions on a 12-hour day shift. You will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate outcomes while guiding a team including LPNs and patient care assistants.

The role emphasizes communication with physicians, patients and families, adherence to MercyOne's mission, and discharge planning to shorten hospital stays.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in nursing required.
• BSN preferred.
• Current Iowa RN license, (current Illinois license if working in IL) required.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
• ACLS required only if the unit has telemetry monitoring capabilities.
• Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter – Child and/or Dependent Adult Abuse training within three months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Conducts an initial assessment to gather data.
• Identifies patient problems and develops them into an outcome/goal-based plan of care.
• Implements the outcome/goal-based plan of care.
• Evaluates patient progress and revises the plan as needed.
• Communicates relevant clinical information to the team to optimize patient outcomes/goals.
