Job summary

HomeFirst seeks a Resident Advocate for the graveyard shift to oversee day-to-day on-site operations in San Jose. You will respond to participants’ needs, facilitate access to services, and ensure safety through regular checks of site grounds and sleeping units.

The role requires a 2-year degree and offers a full-time, non-exempt schedule with on-site responsibilities. You’ll coordinate with program staff to deliver housing assistance and related workshops.

Qualifications

• AA degree (or 2 years of higher education) or field experience in social services.
• Experience working with unhoused population is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Direct client service and supervise participants and guests.
• Implement and enforce site rules and safety protocols.
• Check guests in/out using HMIS and document notes within 3 business days.
• Complete intake and VI-SPDAT assessments with participants.
• Assist with housing plans and provide ongoing support to participants.
• Lead weekly on-site workshops on topics like financial literacy and rights.
• Respond to guest crises using de-escalation and trauma-informed care techniques.
• Maintain confidentiality and professional conduct at all times.
