Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Physical Design Engineer (Silicon Engineering) to develop cutting‑edge ASICs for Starlink. You will perform complex physical design tasks, collaborate across cross‑functional teams, and help drive architectural feasibility studies and signoff quality for space and ground infrastructure.

You should have a strong background in RTL2GDSII, EDA tools, and scripting, with a proactive, self‑driven approach to tackling challenging design problems in a fast‑paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in EE, CE or CS
• 1+ years RTL2GDSII physical design experience or design flow development
• Experience with standard EDA tools and submicron design
• Understanding of CMOS/FinFET physics and standard cells
• Knowledge of DFT/MBIST/LBIST and their impact on physical design

Responsibilities

• Perform partition synthesis and physical implementation steps (synthesis, floorplanning, power/ground grid, place and route, timing, noise, physical verification)
• Develop/improve physical design methodologies and automation scripts
• Collaborate with ASIC design team on timing/power/area targets and RTL/design tradeoffs
• Resolve design/timing/congestion issues and drive execution
• Run and fix signoff issues in STA, noise, physical verification, electromigration and voltage drop
