Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Worcester, MA is seeking a Medical Assistant (Non-Exempt) for the Neurosurgery Clinic. The role includes a 40-hour work week, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM, with a day shift and potential signing bonus discussed during interview.

Responsibilities include taking vital signs, performing EKGs, phlebotomy, and routine clinical support. Certifications and MA credentialing must be obtained per MA Health requirements, with a strong emphasis on compassionate patient care.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Medical Assistant credential approved by the MA Department of Health within 1 year.
• Current BLS/HS certification; obtain within 3 months if not present at hire.
• Equivalent mix of education and experience may be substituted where allowed.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to examination rooms and record vital signs and health status.
• Perform EKGs, phlebotomy, and Point of Care tests per clinic standards.
• Prepare and administer non-intravenous injections as directed within scope.
• Assist in routine physical examinations or clinical procedures.
• Review laboratory results and flag abnormal findings to physicians promptly.
