Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Medical Assistant II to provide essential clinical support in a busy clinic. You will assist providers, perform vital signs, EKGs, phlebotomy, injections, and routine procedures under supervision.

The role requires a MA credential approved by the Massachusetts Department of Health and a high school diploma or equivalent, with BLS/HS certification. A signing bonus may be available and the team is focused on compassionate patient care daily.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Medical Assistant credential approved by the Massachusetts Department of Health (ARMA, NHA, etc.).
• If certification/licensure is not, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

Responsibilities

• Escorts patients to examination rooms and records vital signs.
• Performs EKGs, phlebotomy, and Point of Care tests per clinic standards.
• Assists with injections as directed and other clinical procedures.
• Supports setup of examination rooms and patient care equipment.
• Ensures sterilization and cleaning of instruments per protocol.
• Maintains patient records and related clerical duties per office protocol.
• Assists with scheduling, admissions, transfers, and discharge procedures.
• Collaborates with insurers for pre-authorization and coverage checks.
• Collects co-payments and maintains payment records.

Education
