Job summary

AbbVie in Waltham, MA seeks a senior leader to helm Publication Execution, directing a team of publication managers and aligning plans with global strategies. You will supervise clinical manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and oral presentations to meet strategic objectives.

Responsibilities include mentoring staff, coordinating with stakeholders, and managing budgets; you will drive timely, high-quality deliverables while upholding publication policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degrees preferred (PhD/PharmD/MA)
• Proven medical/scientific publications leadership experience
• Ability to interpret medical data and present to senior audiences
• Knowledge of publication regulations and best practices

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of publication managers reporting to the Director of Pub Execution
• Drive cross-functional collaboration with global stakeholders for publication plans
• Oversee tactical execution of manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and presentations
• Review publications within assigned therapeutic areas for quality and alignment
• Collaborate with Directors to align publication strategy with broader medical communications plans
• Manage outsourcing budgets and internal resource needs for assets
• Provide guidance to internal and external medical writers; ensure quality output
• Direct external vendors to ensure timely, compliant publication deliverables
• Conduct performance assessments and support staff development
• Resolve publications-related issues and maintain publication records
