Job summary

AbbVie in Irvine, CA is seeking a senior professional to lead publication plans and manage cross-functional Publications Team(s) for assigned assets. You will oversee the execution of clinical manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and oral presentations, ensuring alignment with strategic plans and quality standards.

You will collaborate with the Scientific Communications Director and Publications Director to optimize resources, manage outsourcing budgets, and supervise internal/external writers,

Qualifications

• Lead cross-functional Publications Team(s) for assigned assets and drive publication plan execution.
• Experience leading medical/scientific publications programs in pharma/healthcare.
• Ability to interpret medical data and oversee publication quality and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Lead cross-functional Publications Team meetings and drive publication plan execution.
• Oversee tactical publication outputs: manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and presentations.
• Review publications for quality and alignment with platforms and policies.
• Partner with Directors to align strategic publication plans with resource needs and budgets.
• Project and manage outsourcing budgets and internal resource planning.
• Provide guidance to internal/external medical writers and vendors to ensure high-quality deliverables.
• Conduct performance assessments, provide training, and manage staff retention.
• Maintain accurate publication records and update resourcing tools.
