Job summary

Inova Health System's Neurology Clinics in Fairfax seeks a Patient Access Associate 1 to join the team on a full-time day shift, Monday–Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The role involves explaining insurance benefits, verifying payer information, coordinating with departments, and assisting patients with financial assistance applications. You will also communicate scheduling changes and help ensure smooth patient flow.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience: 1 year of customer service or 1 year of experience in a medical setting (Associates degree in lieu of experience).
• Preferred: 2 years’ customer service experience or 1 year in a healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

• Works independently to complete assignments with minimal supervision.
• Explains insurance benefits and patient liability clearly.
• Obtains and validates insurance information using online payer verification systems.
• Coordinates with other departments to assist patients and transport when needed.
• Educates and assists patients with applications for alternative sources of payment for healthcare services.
• Communicates scheduling changes to patients, staff, physicians and patient representatives.
