Job summary

Inova Fairfax Hospital is seeking a dedicated Patient Access Associate 1 for a part-time night shift, Saturdays and Sundays 7:00pm-7:30am. The role involves independent work, improving workflows, and handling patient insurance information with sensitivity and accuracy.

The candidate will educate patients on insurance benefits and aid in applications for alternative payment sources, coordinating with other departments as needed.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience: 1 year of customer service or 1 year of experience in a medical setting (Associates degree in lieu of experience).
• Preferred qualifications include 2 years’ customer service experience or 1 year in a healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

• Works independently to complete assignments with minimal supervision and improves workflow efficiency.
• Explains insurance benefits and patient liability to patients.
• Asks patients for required medical, financial, demographic and insurance information.
• Educates and assists patients with applications for alternative sources of payment including medical assistance programs, loans and grants.
• Communicates scheduling changes to patients, staff, physicians and patient representatives in a timely and professional manner.
