Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a Fire Installer II to install, program, troubleshoot, and service fire alarm systems at customer sites. You will focus on networked fire alarm systems while supporting panel repair, device replacement, and low-voltage work.

The role requires reading blueprints, strong safety practices, and the ability to work flexible hours including travel. A HS diploma or equivalent is required, with 1–3 years in related fields and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience reading blueprints, submittals, and manuals.
• 1-3 years documented experience in low-voltage electrical systems including Fire/Life Safety.
• Experience with hand tools, test equipment, multi-meter usage, digital analyzer, and commissioning devices.
• Basic understanding of network concepts and architectures.
• Ability to perform physical labor up to 50-70 lbs.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends; overnight travel may be required.
• Strong customer service skills and ability to lead and work with team members.
• Follow safety guidelines and procedures.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to pass background/drug checks.
• Ability to obtain licenses per codes.

Responsibilities

• Install, program, troubleshoot, configure, commission, and service fire alarm systems.
• Handle panel repair and reprogramming, device replacement and repair, low-voltage circuit troubleshooting, and system testing.
• Support programming of fire alarm, security, and access control panels, focusing on networked fire alarm systems.
• Respond to customer service calls and complete troubleshooting and repair work.
• Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, schematics, software programs, and manuals.
• Supervise and inspect equipment installation to meet specifications.
• Organize resources and information to complete tasks efficiently.
• Complete required certification courses and document activities.
