Job summary

Johnson Controls seeks a Fire Installer II to install, program, troubleshoot, and service fire alarm systems at customer sites. The role emphasizes networked fire alarm systems and includes panel repair, device replacement, and low-voltage work.

You will read blueprints and specifications, supervise installation, and complete certification courses while coordinating with teams to meet safety and quality standards. Overnight travel may be required.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of documented experience in low-voltage electrical systems, including Fire/Life Safety Systems.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, submittals, and manuals.
• Experience with hand tools, test equipment, multi-meter usage, digital analyzer, and commissioning devices.
• Basic understanding of network concepts and architectures.
• Ability to perform physical labor, including carrying and moving equipment up to 50-70 lbs.
• Ability to work in unusual positions, including ladders, scaffolding, and high lift equipment up to 40 feet.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends.
• Overnight travel may be required.
• Strong customer service skills and the ability to lead and work with a team.
• Ability to follow safety guidelines and procedures.
• Strong organizational skills and quick learning.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Ability to pass background check and drug test.
• Ability to obtain licenses required by National, State, and Local codes.

Responsibilities

• Install, program, troubleshoot, configure, commission, and service fire alarm systems and related building system products.
• Handle panel repair and reprogramming, device replacement and repair, low-voltage circuit troubleshooting, and system testing.
• Support programming of fire alarm, security, and access control system panels, focusing on networked fire alarm systems.
• Respond to customer service calls promptly and complete troubleshooting and repair work as needed.
• Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, schematics, software/system programs, and manuals.
• Supervise and inspect equipment installation to ensure contract specs are met.
• Organize technical resources, information, materials, and support to complete tasks efficiently.
• Complete required certification courses and document activity on time.
