Job summary

Blue Water Thinking is seeking a Biomedical Equipment Technician – Info/Sys to maintain and secure networked medical equipment in our Seattle healthcare facility.

The role requires a strong technical background in medical device maintenance, networking, and cybersecurity, with Cerner EHR integration experience preferred. You will support IT and clinical staff, perform safety inspections, and help ensure patient care through reliable equipment.

Qualifications

• Two-year associate degree or higher in applied science or equivalent military training.
• Minimum of three years hospital/healthcare experience maintaining medical equipment, with at least one year in medical information systems and networking.
• Knowledge of computer virus protection software, patches, upgrades, and security tools.
• Competency in medical equipment, medical record databases, and software; experience with TCP/IP, HL7, networking, security; VLAN/IP addressing/subnetting.
• Understanding regulatory requirements and ISO standards related to medical equipment.
• Familiarity with network test equipment setup and usage.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical schematics.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and be able to obtain federal public trust clearance.
• Must provide proof of COVID and Flu vaccinations or acceptable exemptions.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on networked medical devices to ensure safety and functionality.
• Diagnose and repair malfunctions following manufacturer guidelines.
• Inspect new equipment for safety, functionality, and accuracy.
• Collaborate with IT and cybersecurity for device security protocols.
• Install, calibrate, configure, and test medical equipment per instructions.
• Address hazard recalls and coordinate resolutions with manufacturers.
• Perform software repairs and updates for compatibility with systems.
• Maintain CMMS records of maintenance and repairs.
• Provide training to staff on proper equipment use.
• Keep up with biomedical technology trends and regulations.
• Work with healthcare teams to ensure seamless equipment operations.
• Experience with Cerner EHR integration is preferred.
