Job summary

Blue Water Thinking is seeking a Biomedical Equipment Technician – Info/Sys to support our healthcare facility in Portland, OR. The role focuses on reliability, functionality, and safety of networked medical equipment, including cybersecurity and Cerner integration.

You will engage in preventive and corrective maintenance, device installations, security coordination, and training for medical staff to maintain high standards of patient care and data protection.

Qualifications

• Two-year associate degree or higher in an applied science or equivalent military training.
• Three years hospital or healthcare experience performing medical equipment maintenance, with at least one year in medical information systems and networking.
• Knowledge of computer virus protection software, patches, upgrades, and information security tools.
• Experience maintaining, interfacing and troubleshooting networked medical equipment including VLANs, IP addressing, sub-netting and network security.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive maintenance on networked medical equipment to ensure functionality and longevity.
• Diagnose and repair malfunctions in medical devices per manufacturers' guidelines and specs.
• Carry out incoming inspections of new equipment for safety, functionality, and accuracy.
• Collaborate with IT and cybersecurity teams to implement medical device security protocols and protect patient data.
• Install, calibrate, and configure medical equipment per manufacturer instructions and safety guidelines.
• Address hazard recalls and coordinate with manufacturers and departments for resolution.
• Perform software repairs and updates to address glitches and ensure compatibility with systems.
• Maintain CMMS records for maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
• Provide technical support and training to staff on networked medical equipment.
