Job summary

Blue Water Thinking, LLC is seeking a Biomedical Equipment Technician – Info/Sys to join our Fort Meade, SD healthcare facility. You will maintain and secure networked medical equipment, perform preventive and corrective maintenance, and support Cerner EHR integration while coordinating with IT and clinical staff.

The role requires hands-on facilities experience, strong problem-solving skills, and adherence to patient care standards.

Qualifications

• Two-year associate degree or higher in an applied science or equivalent military training.
• Three years hospital or healthcare experience in medical equipment maintenance, with at least one year in medical information systems and networking.
• Knowledge of computer virus protection software, patches, upgrades, and information security tools.
• Experience with TCP/IP, HL7, networking, VLAN configuration, and network security; can troubleshoot networked medical equipment.
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements and ISO standards.
• Able to read technical literature, schematics, and drawings.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive maintenance on networked medical equipment to ensure functionality and lifespan.
• Diagnose and repair malfunctions in medical devices per manufacturer guidelines.
• Inspect incoming medical equipment for safety and accuracy.
• Collaborate with IT and cybersecurity teams on device security and patient data protection.
• Install, calibrate, and configure medical equipment per manufacturer instructions.
• Address hazard recalls and coordinate with manufacturers for resolution.
• Perform software repairs and updates to medical devices to ensure compatibility.
• Maintain CMMS records of maintenance and inspections.
• Provide training to medical staff on operation and handling of networked equipment.
• Keep up with industry trends and regulatory changes to improve patient care.
