Job summary

Blue Water Thinking seeks a skilled Biomedical Equipment Technician – Info/Sys to maintain and secure networked medical equipment in a healthcare setting. You will perform preventive/corrective maintenance, installations, and contribute to device cybersecurity and EHR integration efforts.

Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, inspections, software updates, and training staff, with emphasis on TCP/IP, HL7, and DICOM standards.

Qualifications

• Two-year associate degree or higher in applied science or equivalent military training.
• Minimum three years hospital/healthcare equipment maintenance with at least one year in medical information systems and networking.
• Knowledge of computer virus protection software, patches, information security tools, electronics, computers and network theory.
• Experience with TCP/IP, HL7, networking, network security and DICOM standards; VLAN/IP addressing/sub-netting; ability to interpret schematics.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive maintenance on networked medical equipment to ensure reliability.
• Diagnose and repair malfunctions per manufacturer specs and safety guidelines.
• Do incoming inspections of new equipment for safety, functionality, and accuracy.
• Collaborate with IT/cybersecurity to secure medical devices and protect patient data.
• Install, calibrate, and configure medical equipment per manufacturer instructions.
• Address hazard recalls; coordinate with manufacturers and departments for resolution.
• Perform software repairs/updates to address glitches and ensure system compatibility.
• Maintain maintenance records in CMMS for traceability.
• Provide training to medical staff on proper use of networked equipment.
• Stay updated on industry trends and regulatory changes in biomedical tech.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure seamless equipment operations.
• Experience with Cerner EHR integration is preferred.
