Job summary

The Technical College of the Lowcountry seeks a Navigator to guide students from application to graduation through intrusive advising, onboarding and coaching. You will assess goals, outline pathways and provide financial literacy coaching as part of a coordinated student support network.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Admissions, Enrollment, & Student Success.

Job description

Job Purpose:

The Navigator will provide intrusive advising, onboarding, orientation, coaching, career assessment and guidance, selecting program pathways, financial literacy coaching and early alert strategies to students from application to graduation.

Job Duties:
  1. Provides advising to students and groups on a variety of personal, social, financial, career and academic matters in support of guided pathways. May teach First Year Experience course(s).
  2. Manages advisee caseload, personalized communications and maintain accurate, detailed records of all advising contacts in the student success management system.
  3. Manages early alert program for caseload using real time data to proactively improve student success through a system of connected and coordinated network of support for students. Provide first level targeted interventions and strategic care to students beginning in the first year through graduation. Manage communication between faculty and other student support services including but not limited to tutoring, personal counseling and disability services.
  4. Proactively track, contact and work with special student populations including but not limited to high risk, first generation, students who miss or have not made appointments, and students on academic probation or suspension.
  5. Collaborates with faculty to ensure current program knowledge in order to effectively assist students with guided pathways selection.
    Regularly communicate program and pathway changes and updates to colleagues.
  6. Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Admissions, Enrollment, & Student Success.
Bachelor’s degree and experience in Student Services programs

Bachelor’s in education, Communication or Pathways specific area; One (1) yr of experience in student services, preferably in student advising in a community college setting.
