Job summary

The Technical College of the Lowcountry invites applications for a full-time teaching position in American Government. The candidate will teach courses across programs, develop syllabi, and maintain student records.

Requirements include a Master’s degree in a related field and at least 18 graduate hours in political science or American government. Proficiency with online learning platforms is recommended. TCL offers comprehensive state benefits and professional development opportunities.

• Develop course materials, manage classroom activities, and handle reports, syllabi, and lesson plan development.
• Collaborate with Tutoring, Retention, and other college areas to help ensure student success and prepare reports for accreditation.

Job description

Job Purpose:

Teach American Government courses to students in all academic programs at the Technical College of the Lowcountry.

Job Duties:

Teaching Responsibilities

• Instruction including hands on and theory, classroom management, and administrative tasks that may include reports, syllabus and lesson plan development.
• Assess the accomplishment of students on a regular basis. Maintain records of student attendance, grades, and progress.

Instructional Development

• Recommend for approval adequate instructional materials for course.
• Work with other areas of the college such as Tutoring, Retention, etc. to help ensure student success.
• Prepare reports in cooperation with the Division Dean for input in planning/reporting system and/or for submission to the accrediting body of the college or programs.

Professional Development

• Attend relevant professional meetings.
• Represent the college positively in interactions with the community and with professional and academic groups at local, state, and national levels.
