Job summary

The Technical College of the Lowcountry seeks qualified nursing instructors to teach in the RN/LPN pathway, combining hands-on skills with theory and clinical supervision. Responsibilities include maintaining syllabi, developing lesson plans, and ensuring courses align with approved curricula.

Ideal candidates hold an associate degree with RN licensure or a nursing diploma with LPN licensure, plus current SC licensure and CPR certification.

Qualifications

  • Active SC RN or LPN license.
  • Must meet all requirements for clinical participation per facility.
  • Two years of long-term care experience plus two years in the discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Teach nursing courses with hands-on and theory.
  • Manage classroom and administrative tasks (reports, syllabus, lesson plans).
  • Assess student progress and maintain attendance/grades.
  • Direct supervision of students in clinical settings.
  • Develop instructional materials and coordinate with Tutoring/Retention.
  • Attend relevant professional meetings and represent the college.

Education

Associate degree (Nursing) with RN license

Job Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching Responsibilities
  • Instruction including hands on and theory, classroom management, and administrative tasks that may include reports, syllabus and lesson plan development.
  • Prepare and/or maintain current course syllabi for course taught.
  • Ensure course is taught in accordance with the established syllabus.
  • Assess the accomplishment of students on a regular basis.
  • Maintain records of student attendance, grades, and progress.
  • Direct supervision of students in a variety of clinical settings.
Instructional Development
  • Recommend for approval adequate instructional materials for course.
  • Work with other areas of the college such as Tutoring, Retention, etc. to help ensure student success.
  • Recommend adequate laboratory facilities/equipment for assigned course.
Professional Development
  • Attend relevant professional meetings.
  • Represent the College positively in interactions with the community and with professional and academic groups at local, state, and national levels.
  • Maintain frequent communication with PCT program faculty (or course coordinators).
  • Associate degree (Nursing) with Registered Nurse (RN) license, or Diploma in nursing with Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license who works under the supervision of the primary instructor (RN).
  • One (1) year of experience in long-term care caring for the elderly and/or the chronically ill of any age and two (2) years of experience in the discipline also required.
  • Active, unencumbered SC RN or LPN license
  • Current American Heart Association Provider CPR (Adult & Child)
  • Must meet all requirements for clinical participation per clinical facility.
  • Previous teaching or training experience preferred but not required.
  • At least two (2) years of recent practical experience with venipuncture and specimen collection and/or electrocardiogram in a clinical setting.
  • Current American Heart Association Instructor CPR (Adult & Child)
